Public Sector – Student Information System

Labrynth worked with the third largest school district in the country to help build and implement a comprehensive, centralized student information solution to replace the existing legacy student data warehouses that serve as a repository of student records. The implementation took the school district from multiple different legacy systems to a unified and technologically advanced system with crucial functionality to help them run more effectively and efficiently. Labrynth’s responsibilities on this project included key management, functional, and technical roles.

The new solution includes innovative functionality and features designed to meet the district's various needs, including: storing and tracking student data; monitoring all students, including children with special needs; and providing the business tools and infrastructure necessary to support District teachers, administrators, staff, and parents. This complex systems integration project involved the implementation of several COTS packages, including parallel processing and a phased rollout by area.

In support of this initiative, Labrynth assisted in creating an Operational Data Store (ODS) that is able to maintain student information from both the legacy systems and the new systems. The ODS provides the school district an effective and efficient way to continue publishing required District and Area level, State, and other mandatory data for reporting and external systems. In addition, the ODS serves as the source for student information during the conversion from legacy systems to the new systems.
